Services

People often begin therapy when they are struggling or overwhelmed. This experience may be driven by feelings of sadness and depression; anxiety, panic or stress; grief, loss, or trauma; concerns with self-esteem; or difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Others are looking for support while navigating life transitions or difficult choices in careers or relationships. I begin the process with a consultation in order to better understand your situation and the nature of the difficulties you have encountered.

For children and adolescents, the process often begins when parents have a sense that their child is struggling. A child may seem sad, withdrawn, anxious, or preoccupied. A child’s behavior may have impacted academic performance or social development. At other times, parents may be looking to support their child through a difficult or challenging circumstance or situation. A consultation typically involves an initial meeting with parents, followed by meetings with the child. The goal of the consultation is to help parents and child to better understand the nature of the child’s struggles. Children are not always able to express in words what they are feeling, or the nature of their worries or concerns. Play therapy can provide a medium through which children can more effectively communicate what they are thinking and feeling, and can also help them develop new approaches to challenging situations as they learn to better navigate their worlds.

Psychotherapy sessions with adults are generally either 45 or 50 minutes long. Sessions take place weekly, and sometimes multiple times a week, if indicated. Sessions with children and adolescents are generally 45 minutes long.

Fees

I am considered an out-of-network provider. However, some insurance plans provide varying degrees of coverage for out-of-network psychotherapy. To find out whether your plan will provide reimbursement, and at what rate, you can call your insurance company and ask them to clarify the following points:

  • Whether they will reimburse out of network for CPT code 90834 (individual psychotherapy).
  • If yes, at what rate will they reimburse. Some plans will reimburse at what they refer to as a “usual and customary fee. You can ask them to clarify this number.
  • Whether there is a deductible, or minimum threshold that must be met, before these benefits are paid
  • Whether there is a yearly limit on these reimbursements

While obtaining reimbursement is a matter between you and your insurance provider, I can provide the necessary documentation in order for you to file your claim
